Nets, The Killing Fields more like!Congratulations to Statto for avoiding death (by mere inches) last night! You will be pleased to know that Chairman Mao/Teflon only required four stitches!

Nothing like a little bit of Sunday tea-time violence is there? Hope Chairman Mao ( ) is feeling better and back at nets soon.
Although our net sessions are evidently not as violent as you might think they are at Falkland Cricket Club. If you go to their homepage (http://www.falklandcc.co.uk/ ) and follow the link where it says 'Indoor Nets Commence 2nd February' you end up at an advert for fireworks, bonfires and barbecues!
Fortunately it's only a case of them not having taken down their 5th November poster yet, otherwise violence, pyromaniacs and canibalism might be suspected.
Although to be fair we might yet get canibalism if Statto makes good on his previous promises....

So what happened then?
Did Mike 'pitch' the beamer to perfection?

You cheeky git! I wasn't involved in any way, shape or form! Gary bowled a short ish delivery which David top edged onto his eyebrow! He has a lovely shiner but seems otherwise ok!

Other than that incident, I am pretty positive about our switch to Willink. Might be an idea to measure the length of the wickets next week though!

Yes, the Willink was a bit better. And it was quite nice being the only ones in the hall.
I got an early rude awakening when someone wacked just about the first ball he received back down the other end of the hall at head height. (Trying to do a Sayeed and smash the first ball as far as possible. )
I quite enjoyed having a long bat < insert remark about that being the longest bat I'll get all season here >. You never know, one day I might be able to play one of those glorious straight drives in an actual match!
I'm probably not going to be there this week but probably will be the week after.

It was very nice getting the first ball right out of the middle of the bat, a very satisfying sensation! Play some of those straight drives in a match and you will be scoring boundaries!

Hit off your own bowling?
Good to see the switch went down well - not sure if i'll make many though.

NETSWell statto back and back at nets in abit for a bruiseing!!
|
Jeremy
|
Well that's it for nets this year; just thought I'd report the startling ews that I actually didn't bowl quite as badly as usual tongiht (the next time 'Billy Whizz' charges down the pitch and takes a swing at one of my deliveries he should consider using a 9-iron instead! ), and after a couple of dodgy weeks I think the batting went better as well.
Having said that I've probably acquired some new bruises tonight from a couple of unfortunate inside edges.
But anyway, I think the move to the Willink was sucess, and an improvement on Bradfield.
Looking forwarc to suing the new outdoor net at Wasing Park soon.

It's a bit early to be thinking about legal action, isn't it? We haven't even got the thing yet!!!

And there you have it - conclusive proof that I should never be employed as a proof reader!
Move along, nothing to see here....
